TWO soldiers based in Warminster were thrown out the army and sent to a military jail at separate court martial hearings on Monday.
Both men, serving with The Black Watch, based at Battlesbury Barracks, admitted going on the run from their units. Private Sean Boylan, aged 18, of The Black Watch, admitted going absent without leave for 232 days.
Trooper Ben Carr, 19, of the Royal Tank Regiment, attached to the Scottish regiment, admitted being absent without leave, over five occasions, for 236 days.
Each claimed at the court martials at Tidworth he had stayed at home to deal with family problems and their respective mothers had been unwell. Boylan was sentenced to 56 days detention and Trooper Carr to 80 days detention.
Each man was told that the court considered the absences so serious they must be dismissed from the army.
