A CHAMPAGNE-drenched Colin Bush has warned his Corsham Town players they are not finished yet after watching them claim their first piece of silverware under his reign.

The Corsham boss took a break from their Wiltshire Senior Cup final victory celebrations at Hardenhuish on Wednesday night to insist his all conquering side still had plenty to play for this season.

Ahead of tomorrow's league match at Bridport, Bush revealed his ambition of stealing a second place finish from Frome Town and urged his players to treat the remaining league games as "nine cup finals."

Goals from John Eldred, Scott Lye and Toby Colbourne sealed the 3-1 victory over Bemerton Heath Harlequins but as the champagne flowed and the celebrations got into full swing, Bush was keeping his feet firmly on the ground.

He said: "We had about 18 bottles of champagne in the dressing room but unfortunately I didn't get to drink any of them because most of it is all over my clothes.

"But our season is still a long way from over and I have already started thinking about Bridport in the league.

"This win is fantastic because it means we have something to show for what has been a fantastic season.

"But we still have nine cup finals left because we want to finish as high up in the Screwfix Premier Division as we possibly can. If we win them all we will finish second and that would be unbelievable."

Corsham are four points behind second placed Frome with two games in hand, and with his side still to visit the Somerset team Bush knows there is still a long way to go.

He said: "The top six in the league have pulled away and we are all in a dog fight now to sort out the positions.

"Just imagine picking up this trophy and then finishing second in the league. Finishing top six against the money clubs is great, but to get second would be magnificent.

"But there is a long way to go and we all can do is prepare properly. With players like Nigel Curtis and Colin Towler in this team there is no way we will rest on our laurels."

Wednesday night's triumph erased the memories of last season's final disappointment against Trowbridge Town and Bush believed his side deserved the trophy.

He said: "In the first half they had more of the possession but only created one real chance. Then in the second half I thought we were more like ourselves and I think the second half display earned us the win.

"One thing with the Corsham side is that we will never give up. Even when we are not playing that well we will fight and tackle and work hard."

After a remarkable rise up the Screwfix Premier Division, which has seen his side lose just twice in the last 31 competitive matches, Bush paid tribute to everyone's efforts.

He said: "No-one will forget what we have done this season. Everyone has done so much, from the chairman Colin Hudd to our sponsor Pak Chang at Hong Kong House, and this win means so much to everyone.

"We did not want to go through a season like this without winning anything. This is a great cup to win and a great tournament and hopefully we will be back next year to defend the trophy."
