A DRIVER was trapped inside his car after a collision flipped the vehicle onto its side. The crash, which occurred outside the Leigh Park Hotel in Bradford on Avon, left the driver of a a fractured collarbone.
The man, from Bradford on Avon, was taken to the Royal United Hospital, Bath, and diversions were put in place for three hours while emergency services attended the scene. The three-car pile-up occurred when the Polo, which was on its way from Bath, collided with a Renault Clio at the crossroads before turning onto its side and then colliding with a Citroen Xsara Picasso coming from the Bradford direction.
Bradford town councillor Michael Bowen said heavy traffic and poor signposting was a problem at the blackspot. "There has been a feeling that there should be a roundabout there because there is a lot of industrial traffic coming from all directions," he said.
Sgt Chris Moore, from Corsham police, said: "It would appear at this moment in time that it was driver error rather than the crossroads, but that's still to be investigated."
