TRAFFIC police are urging a female driver who may have witnessed the fatal road accident in which teenager Stephen Heapes was killed last Friday, to get in touch..
The woman who was driving a dark coloured Volkswagen Polo was stopped at the junction of Lydiard Fields, indicating to turn right onto the A3102 towards Wootton Bassett, within minutes of the collision at 4.30pm.
On realising that she was unable to turn right, she indicated and turned left onto the A3102, driving off in the direction of Blagrove Roundabout.
The driver should contact PC Steve Love at Swindon Traffic Police on 01793 528111.
Stephen Heapes, 18, was getting a lift home with his boss when he died in the motorbike accident.
He was riding pillion with his boss when the bike collided with a Peugeot car on the Great Western Way.
Stephen, of Stansfield Close, Toothill, worked as a labourer for the motorcycle rider, who police say runs a bricklaying business.
Both Stephen and the man driving the high powered Suzuki were thrown off when it hit a Peugeot coming out of Lydiard Fields, near junction 16 of the M4 motorway. The road had to be closed from junction 16 to Blagrove, causing chaos to rush hour traffic.
Stephen died at the scene while the other man, who police have not yet named, suffered a broken arm.
Police have declined to name the rider, who is in hospital and who is still helping them with inquiries.
The woman driver of the Peugeot was shocked but uninjured following the accident.
