TROWBRIDGE boosted their survival hopes on Saturday while condemning neighbours Bradford to an immediate relegation from the Southern Counties South League.

But with their closest rivals, Tadley and Redingensians, also winning, Trowbridge remain in the last of the three relegation spots and know a win against champions elect Bournemouth in their last match of the season next Saturday could be crucial.

Failure to win there would leave them relying on the complicated play-off picture, which could still earn them an 11th hour reprieve if results went their way.

Saturday's win has at least given them confidence ahead of the unenviable challenge of Bournemouth, as they defeated Bradford convincingly.

The returning Clark twins were largely anonymous for Bradford as it was their forwards who tried to take the game to Trowbridge in the opening exchanges.

Playing against a strong wind, Trowbridge's defence held firm under heavy pressure although they did concede four penalties which Joe Baker kicked to give the visitors a 12-0 lead at the break.

In the second half, Trowbridge used the blustery conditions to their advantage and within 10 minutes the scores were level.

Substitute Matt Dudman scored his side's first try immediately after coming on and Lloyd Davis converted to reduce the deficit.

Adam Sullivan then touched down for a solo try before Davis kicked a penalty to give Trowbridge the lead for the first time.

Richard Jones then added another try with a powerful run while Sullivan scored his second after bursting through a gap. Davis added one conversion.

With time running out, scrum half Tom Hanham picked the ball up from a driving scrum to go over the line for the final try and Davis converted again.
