A SKIING accident has claimed the life of an Aldbourne man.
Ian Gardener, 36 fell to his death while skiing off-piste in Switzerland
The lawyer fell some 300 metres (984 ft) after losing his footing ending up in a snow gully at the resort of Verbier in the Alps.
In 2002, Mr Gardener was featured on the National Geographic game show Game for It, following a dramatic cycling trip through the Mekong Delta with his friend Justin Wateridge.
The trip, which covered more than 4,500km helped to raise £18,000 for disabled charity, Motivation which provides wheelchairs to people in Asian developing countries.
It is understood that Mr Gardener's funeral took place last week in Aldbourne.
FIREFIGHTERS attended a small fire at a flat in York Road, Swindon, on Friday. Crews from Swindon and Stratton were alerted at 8.40pm.
Burnt food on the cooker was blamed.
Firefighters took 30 minutes to fully ventilate the property.
