FIGHELDEAN school celebrated the opening of its new administrative building by taking the chance to embrace the village roots vital to the school's success.
Conservative parliamentary candidate for Salisbury Robert Key, who opened the £80,000 building, praised the school's contribution to the Figheldean community over successive generations, making particular reference to the number of pupils with parents and grandparents who had attended the school.
The youngest and oldest members of the current crop of schoolchildren, four-year old Jade Crompton and Chris Sim (11), were present to help cut the ribbon, along with headteachers Rosie Mayers and Sue Wilton.
A balloon race organised by the PTA, and sponsored by Mahle Filter Systems of High Post, was held to mark the opening of the building.
