THE numerous complaints about the new refuse and recycling service introduced by Swindon Council demonstrate yet again the incompetence of council managers and administrators.
There are few areas where this new service has gone smoothly. The council gave householders insufficient information about the changes and there has been a catalogue of problems.
Despite the errors council spokesman Gavin Calthrop stated that "a lot of planning went into this scheme." It follows that this equates to a substantial amount of tax payers' money.
Councillors should hold an inquiry to find out what the officers responsible for this scheme did with their time while supposedly planning this service and why they were incapable of delivering an effective and efficient service.
