GAZETTE & HERALD: A 14-YEAR-old boy who crashed the car he was driving was captured by an off-duty policeman when he tried to flee the scene.
The schoolboy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is believed to have bought the car for £60 before driving it off with three friends.
He tried to overtake another vehicle along Braemor Road, Calne, but crashed into an oncoming car.
The incident happened at 4.17pm last Thursday.
Sgt Peter Chamberlain of Calne police said: "We can confirm the car was not stolen. The offender was 14-years-old and was bailed for further police enquiries.
"We can also confirm the 14-year-old tried to run off from the scene but was stopped and held onto by an off duty police officer. Three other passengers ran from the scene."
The boy was arrested at the scene and later released on police bail.
