I ATTENDED both public meetings last week about the proposed sell off of allotments.
More than 300 people were at the meetings, and putting party politics aside, the Labour councillors for Western should be congratulated for starting this campaign.
One note of caution though. At both meetings Councillor Des Moffatt said that it was necessary to oppose the green lobby that is defending Coate and the Front Garden. Des wrongly thinks that if the property developers are thwarted at Coate they will have to build on green space in town. Think again Des. We need to defend all our green spaces, and there are brown field sites such as North Star where we could build affordable homes.
Don't let the property developers play us off against each other. We need both Coate and the green spaces in the town centre.
