As April marks Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, I am writing to let you know about a fantastic new fundraising challenge in support of the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.
The fund was set up after the death of my husband, Bobby, who died from bowel cancer in 1993.
Project Brazil, which is kindly sponsored by Citigroup, is a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit rural Brazil and help the local community to restore their school, which will enable them to be educated at home.
We will also help to build a fantastic football pitch for the locals to encourage the emergence of the next Pele.
After a handover ceremony of the newly refurbished school, the football pitch will be christened by a challenge match between participants of the project and the village team in our own version of an England vs Brazil cup final.
The project runs from November 20 to 29 and will be based in the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, which is recognised as a World Heritage site due to its outstanding natural beauty.
To join us on this fabulous journey you have to be over the age of 18, pay a registration fee and then pledge to raise a minimum of £3,500.
No experience is needed, just determination and a sense of adventure.
All the money raised will go towards the Bobby Moore Fund to raise funds for vital research into bowel cancer.
Forty-five people die from the disease every day in the UK and, aside from lung cancer, it claims more lives than any other type of cancer.
You can find out more about Project Brazil by visiting www.cancerresearchuk.org/challenges, calling 0870 850 8735 or emailing challenges@cancer.org.uk.
Please join us and raise funds to help us tackle bowel cancer.
