GAZETTE & HERALD: A MAJOR refurbishment project for Yatton Keynell village hall will get a much-needed boost from the next giant carboot sale at Castle Combe circuit on Sunday.
The village's recreation association is part-way through an upgrade, which has cost more than £8,000 so far.
Now organisers are hoping that the carboot sale will kickstart the next phase of the project to modernise the kitchen, which could add another £10,000 to the bill.
Village hall association secretary Tony Firth said: "We have been very fortunate in the past with people giving us very generous support and we get a lot of help from volunteers, but money is a pressing problem.
"Good weather and a record crowd would help us raise around £1,000."
The carboot sale is the largest of its kind in the South West with several hundred stalls, and the thousands of visitors give generous support to eight local good causes through the summer.
Browsers and buyers donate 25p each to the chosen charity, while sellers are charged £8 per car and vans pay between £10 and £25 depending on size. The boot sale is open from 8am to 2pm.
