I am currently compiling my family tree and have been passed a cutting from the Chippenham edition of the Gazette and Herald.

I don't know what date it was as it was cut round the border but the title was 'Volunteer Army' and had been submitted by Mr C W Heavens of Melksham.

I was so pleased to see my grandfather in the photograph. He was second in from the left in the second back row and his name was George Bentley Stanley.

He served with Nestl for 50 years as a painter. I have all his telegrams and letters from the company and the gifts he received on his retirement.

He served in the 19141919 war in Gallipoli. His grandfather was Troop Sergeant Major William Bentley who fought in the Charge of the Light Brigade and was saved by Lt Dunn who was awarded a VC for his bravery.

I knew grandpa was in the Home Guard but have never ever seen a photograph of him. He died in 1966.

I live in Glasgow but my relations are in the Chippenham/Calne area.

I am hoping to come down this year to bring all my papers to let the museum in Chippenham see the Nestl's papers in return for, maybe, getting some background information on Nestl where my grandpa (and his family) worked for so long. I shall treasure the print.
