There is a great deal of self righteous indignation from both parties of the Safety Camera Partnership and their new operation on the M4.
What is required is transparency in the following areas:
How many lives are estimated to be saved in a three-month, six-month, nine-month or 12-month period?
How many motorists are caught on a weekly basis?
How much cash is collected on a weekly basis?
How is the cash divided between the partners?
How does the cash benefit the tax payers and council tax payers of Wiltshire?
All the above figures could be detailed on a weekly basis in the Gazette and would make a fascinating weekly feature which I would avidly read.
The cameras are obviously there on a long-term basis and it must be suspected that the results will be used as a benchmark for their introduction nationwide.
