STEVE WHITE COLUMN: I HAD no complaints about Mark Badman being sent off at Hemel. It was a terrible tackle and he had to go but it probably cost us the match.

In the dressing room afterwards he was very distressed.

He is a bit of a hard lad but this had got to him and he apologised to me and the rest of the team.

He knew what he had done was stupid, he didn't really need me or anyone else to tell him.

He isn't the sort of player to say too much in that situation but he was very upset.

I was very disappointed with the result.

Before the match I remarked to my assistant Ronnie Needham that we really seemed up for it and we were very confident.

For an hour we played really well despite a lot of bad challenges on us.

But once we were down to ten players it was very hard.

Saturday's game is now a must win match. I know I have been saying that for several weeks but this really is crunch time now.

If we can win against Banbury and Histon slip up against Tiverton then it is all back in the melting pot again.

I think both us and Histon would be happy for it to be decided when we meet during the last match of the season. But there are still lots of permutations that can happen before then.

Ben Kirk's injury on Saturday and Scott Walker having to go off again on Tuesday were a bit of a blow, especially following on from the rib injury that Sam Allison got the week before.

But we brought in a couple of people before the transfer window closed and so our squad is big enough to cope.

Badman will face a ban that will come into force in two weeks' time. That would mean if we make the play-offs he would miss the second leg.

But at the moment we are only thinking about the outright promotion spot.

In any other league, where two teams go up by rights, we would have no worries but of course in our league there is only one spot.

That makes life very hard for all the teams fighting for that top spot.

I have to stay optimistic, even after what happened on Tuesday. We should have won that game but now we have to look forward to Saturday.

I know there have been some rumours about Sam Bailey baring his bottom at the Bath City coach on the way back from Aylesbury last week.

But I didn't see anything. The only thing I would say on the matter is how do they know it was Sam's bum?

There have been some comments about it on the website but as I didn't see anything I'm not getting involved.

I am very pleased that Chippenham is going to be involved in a charity game in honour of John Woods.

He was part of Chippenham's team that went to Wembley in the FA Vase final and is still well liked here.

I will be pleased to manage one of the teams and hopefully get a few people to play for us that will help to get the crowds through the doors and raise lots of money.

The cash is going to Dorothy House Hospice which is a great cause. I am sure Chippenham Town fans and those from Corsham and Calne will want to come along and support it.

The lad is very well known in local footballing circles and all of those people who have been moved by the way he has fought his illness will be there, I'm sure.

Football at this level is a close-knit community and everyone knows each other.

He was a great servant to this club and it is good that we can now do our bit and help to raise some money for charity in his name.
