FRUSTRATED councillor Michelle Slade is recommending a road toll in Westbury after its main route failed to make a resurfacing list.
Despite the volumes of traffic using the A350 through Westbury, Wiltshire County Council has not included the road in its 2005/06 resurfacing plans.
Highways bosses blame this on limited funding and say that patching work will still go ahead in Westbury.
But Cllr Slade said: "I would like to have a toll booth on the A350 for just one day and that would pay for the work."
Cllr Bill Braid added: "We are highly disgusted with this list."
In a letter to the council, area highway engineer Pat Whyte said: "For some time now I have been aware of the deterioration of various locations along the A350 and localised repairs have already been carried out on badly deformed areas.
"Unfortunately the A350 has not been included upon the 2005/06 principle roads resurfacing list and I am unable to provide you with a date when major works of this nature will take place."
