RESIDENTS fighting to block a five-home development in Westbury Leigh won the first round of their battle on Monday.
Prospect Land Ltd wants to build the homes, with parking and a private drive, on land which will be reached from Mill Lane, a route labelled as a footpath.
A group of eight householders took their concerns to Westbury Town Council's planning committee on Monday, where councillors unanimously agreed to object to the plan.
Resident Christine Johnson said there were already vehicle access problems in the area and the application would have an adverse impact on the environment.
Fellow campaigner Kate Hutchings said they were concerned more cars would threaten the safety of children.
Prospect Land received outline planning permission to develop the site in 2001, but this second plan shows exactly what it wants to do on the land. The application will now be debated by West Wiltshire District Council's planning committee.
