DOMINANT Wiltshire demolished Devon in the Mick Parry Cup Final on Saturday with a superb 4-1 victory.
Coach, Mel Gingell, beamed with pride as he watched his side hit four goals and Chippenham-born youngster Yan Klukowski pick up the man-of-the-match trophy.
He now believes Wiltshire can go on and win the double with a victory over Dorset in the Southern Counties final in May.
Devon had taken the lead ten minute before Wiltshire began to take control, with Klukowski lobbing the goalkeeper from the edge of the penalty area after being put through by Scott Lye.
Salisbury's Adrian Heath scored a second just before half time after Klukowski slid the ball back from the baseline.
An almost identical goal 15 minutes after the break allowed Corsham's Jamie Lyons to strike home from six yards and ten minutes later Lyons bundled in his second from a Klukowski cross as the game became one-way traffic.
Gingell praised his young team, adding they are the best he has coached.
"Wiltshire have never won this trophy before which made this all the more special and hopefully we can win the double.
"It's nice to say that Wiltshire are winning trophies again and now we are starting to win things this will build for a strong senior team in the future.
"It's great for the players as well as it puts them in the shop window. They are a proud lot. I always felt they were good enough to win something. They were over the moon and it was like they had won the FA Cup."
Gingell said Klukowski deserved his man-of-the-match trophy but was worried Klukowski would not be available for the Dorset game as he should have been captaining England's U18 in China.
But the game has now been postponed.
"He really is a big boost for Wiltshire. I don't think Wiltshire has ever had an international captain before and when he plays he makes it a better side.
"He ran the show for a long period and definitely deserved the award."
Midfielder, Scott Lye, said the side were in high spirits and believed they could do the double.
"It was great to win on Saturday. We were the first Wiltshire team to win it and it meant a lot to the Wiltshire FA, as Mick Parry was a committee member.
"When they scored we woke up a bit and went two-one up at half time and we controlled the game after that."
Gingell admitted he knew nothing about Dorset but felt his Wiltshire side were good enough win at Melksham Town's ground.
"It will take a very good side to better our boys. It is a very good side this year and I am proud of them.
"It's nice to put Wiltshire football on the map."
Wiltshire qualified for the cup final after winning their South West Counties group.
They will now play Dorset in the Southern Counties final on May 7 at Melksham Town.
Klukowski is disappointed to be missing out on the China trip but is glkad he will now definitely be fit and ready to help Wiltshire win the double.
Chippenham-born Klukowski was due to fly out with the England side on April 26 to play two games, one against the Chinese U18s and one against a professional side's youth team.
He would have returned four days before the cup final on May 3.
An integral member of the successful Wiltshire side he assured the Gazette he will be raring to go.
"I want to give myself every opportunity. It's a final so you should be looking to play in all finals.
"That's why you play, to win things and I will give myself every chance and barring injuries I should definitely play."
Klukowski added: It whould have been a great experience playing in 54,000 capacity stadiums with the stadiums around half full.
"I think I perform better when the stakes are high in the more important games.
He said Saturday's victory had been hard-earned, despite the flattering scoreline.
"The game was tough and sometimes it was long ball but we played well as a team.
"I was chuffed to get the trophy as it is all about winning things,'' he said.
"If you don't win things then you should not be playing.
"We have been looking for the double and we are halfway to it and I think the team's strong enough and if we perform on the day I am sure we will win the league title."
