77097-269TWO Swindon schoolboys are preparing for a chess marathon. Daniel Chan and Luke Burroughs, both 11, are gearing up for the England Junior Chess Trials.
If successful, they will gain a place on the Under 11s England Chess Team.
Daniel, of Croft Road, is a pupil at Leftbridge Primary School and Luke, of Braemar Close, Lawn is at Lawn Primary School.
Both have been avid chess players for three years and became friends after meeting at the chess clubs they attend at Lawn Primary School and at the Thamesdown Junior Chess Club. For the last six months they have been travelling around the country, competing in qualifying rounds to get to the trials.
Luke's mum, Dawn, 43, is already proud of the boys for getting so far.
She said: "It's going to be a tough challenge but even to reach this level it is great.
"Not many people get to the England trials."
The boys love the game but only play at chess club.
Luke's brother Adam, eight, and Daniel's sister Isla, eight, are already following in their footsteps.
