AFTER a lengthy period of time without playing a competitive fixture, Chippenham's ladies team continued their unbeaten league season with a hard fought but, in the end, very convincing win.

Facing a spirited combined Bristol and Gloucester team away at Bristol for the first time, the visitors did not know what to expect from their hosts.

Early in the game, Chippenham soon realised what the home side's game plan was going to be.

With a larger pack than Chippenham, the Bris/Glos fought hard to break down the defence through their forwards.

But despite the weight disadvantage, Chippenham's pack held firm. From a turn-over at a ruck, Harriet Crockett picked up the ball and scored a brilliant 70 metre solo effort. The conversion was kicked by team captain, Samantha Morgan.

Crockett then added a second try after a fine backs move from a scrum and Chippenham's third try came from winger Gemma Turner-Wright who showed good pace to score in the corner.

Brist/Glos fought their way back into the game and their efforts were rewarded with a deserved try in the corner.

But this score from the home team, kicked Chippenham back into action.

Crockett and Morgan added further tries, both of which were converted by Morgan and Chippenham went into the half-time break with a very comfortable 5 -31 lead.

In the second half, and playing with the wind and the slope, Chippenham's superiority was starting to show through.

Crockett continued her try scoring ways to give her a match try tally of five. Morgan and Turner-Wright both grabbed their second tries of the game and further tries from Akanaise Sauana and Letitia Delanay completed the scoring rout.

Morgan kicked six conversion attempts out of eleven to give a final scoreline of 5-67 to Chippenham.
