77138-63SHOPPERS at Asda Walmart were able to get more than a pint of milk and a loaf of bread at the weekend.
The supermarket, at the Orbital Shopping Park, was host to a GWR FM charity SCAD diving event yesterday from 10am-4.30pm.
SCAD diving allows people to free-fall through the air in to a large net 150 foot below.
The jumpers, including Swindon Speedway boss Alun Rossiter and members of the public, each paid £40 to take part, with the money going to the GWR Community Trust Fund.
Crowds of 200 people gathered to watch as the brave souls took the plunge.
Rachel Addis, 31, trust manager, said: "We had lots of people turning up. It was a fantastic atmosphere. It looked scary but it's fantastic. I did it four times. I've done bungee jumping before and this is better than that.
"People were just coming to do their shopping and they were shocked to see it but they all stopped to watch."
The daredevils who took part reached speeds of up to 70 miles per hour as they fell.
After experiencing a G-force of up to 4G they then landed in a giant net below which is then lowered to the ground.
Rachel said: "As well as turning up on the day and paying £40 to do it, some people collected sponsor money beforehand and they all raised more than £100 each.
"The GWR FM Community Trust has raised over £2.32 million in its lifetime."
"The money has benefited over 11,000 worthwhile charities and voluntary groups throughout Wiltshire."
