PEOPLE in Swindon are being urged to nominate local heroes to mark the Year of the Volunteer before next Friday's deadline.
The Nationwide Awards for Voluntary Endeavour are designed to reward those that make a difference in their community.
Regional winners, who will receive a plague and dining vouchers, will then go on to a national final.
A spokesman for Nationwide, which has organised the competition in association with the National Council for Voluntary Organisations and the Newspaper Society, said: "Throughout the UK there are thousands of people who happily give up their time to help their local communities.
"From fundraising for a charity to caring for a sick relation or elderly neighbour, these local heroes don't expect any recognition but they certainly deserve it.
"This is your chance to tell us why you think they deserve an award."
To make a nomination, pick up a form from the building society or public library.
