WITH reference to the "ambitious 10-year project to turn the 500-acre Coate site into a self-contained, bustling community" (EA, April 13).

They make it sound as if it will not affect anywhere or anyone but the immediate area, which is rubbish.

The plans, as submitted, will impact enormously on the quality of all south Swindon residents and workers, environmentally and economically.

To describe them in isolation is pure spin by the consortium to deflect the true consequences of such changes.

Who are these two out-of-town people laying their threats on south Swindon residents and their elected councillors that it's this or nothing?

Do they care about the traffic chaos for future generations note there is no offer to dual-carriageway Marlborough Road an almost certain requirement!

These proposals ensure the south Swindon election campaign will be a single issue one for most residents, so the ambiguous position taken by some candidates on this vital matter will be judged harshly by a hopefully large electorate.

We want an MP who fights tooth and nail for our rights, rather than following a party line, principles which will apply even more to local councillors when their day of decision comes along.

Yes, Coate is important to many, either way, but so is south Swindon, we need our voice to be heard vote please.
