YOUTH RUGBY: SKIPPER Ady Briggs paid tribute to Wootton Bassett 3rd despite their last-day 23-5 defeat to Warminster in Dorset & Wilts Two North.
Briggs' men secured fourth spot in their maiden league season, leaving the skipper delighted.
He said: "We have had a brilliant season, finished fourth in the league and come top out of all the third teams in the league and have even finished above some first and second XVs.
"I am very pleased with the boys' performances and attitudes to the games we have played.''
Scrum-half Dave Scott scored Bassett's consolation try.
SUPERMARINE Veterans saw off their Pewsey Vale counterparts 32-12 in an end-of-season friendly.
Marine were boosted by the late arrival of former club captain Bill Burton from the United States.
Roger Couling opened the scoring and, although Pewsey replied with two tries and a conversion, Marine scored through Symonds, Neate, Burton, Emmett and Johnson in the second half, Ferris adding one conversion.
