YOUTH RUGBY: CHIPPENHAM are the Dorset & Wilts Under 16 champions after thrashing Bournemouth 30-0 in the final at their own Allington Field base.

The club's only side to reach a final, Chippenham overcame early tension and opened their account with a penalty try.

The conversion was added by Lee Audis, who kicked a penalty before half-time.

After it, further scores came from Matthew Whitehead, Michael Mohan, Josh Brown and Dave Gooding.

In the day's other finals, also held at Chippenham, Marlborough were defeated 27-7 by Sherborne in the under 12s clash.

Bournemouth won the under 13s and 14s finals without conceding a point, 32-0 and 31-0 over Salisbury on both occasions.

They also lifted the under 11 crown with a 21-7 win over Warminster.

Salisbury made amends by winning the under 15 prize, 22-12 over Wimborne.

CHIPPENHAM Under 14s put rustiness behind them to see off hosts Bath 17-0.

Tom Davies side-stepped his way over for the first score, Stefan Crawley going over twice in the second period and Davies adding one conversion.

CHIPPENHAM took minis teams to the Bath Festival, the under nines being crowned champions for the second year running.

They shared the honour with Bath A, who had defeated them 10-5 earlier in the day, a 5-5 draw with Havant and 15-0 semi-final success over Redruth.

Jack Prangle, Kyle Kent, James Tucker and Tom Douglas scored in the under sevens 30-20 reverse to Bath and they were then defeated 20-10 by Havant. Kent and Ryan Talbot crossed in the 35-10 loss to Winchester.

The under 10s concluded their season at the festival, but were edged out 5-0 by Bath and 10-0 by Winchester, although they did see off Havant 20-0, courtesy of a hat-trick from Daniel Vertessy and Ryan Parry.
