The 1st Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment (The Slashers) regained the Wyn Rees Memorial Sevens at Wootton Bassett Rugby Club on Sunday.
The regiment, just back from peacekeeping duties in Kosovo, defeated WMD Bristol 26-12 in the final to take back the trophy they won in 2003.
The Slashers are the current Army champions and include a number of Fijian players, two of whom have represented Fiji in the IRB international sevens tournament, among the line-up.
They were one of four military squads present, others including the Royal Logistics Corp and the 1st Battalion of the Black Watch.
Slashers emerged victorious from a competition that attracted student squads from Cardiff and Bristol Universities, plus Stoneyhurst College.
Also present were Banbury, Farnborough and Great Western Rugby, the 2004 champions made up of members of the Wootton Bassett and Swindon College.
Despite some excellent rugby at Stoneover Lane, neither of Bassett's teams progressed into the final stages.
Banbury Bulls and the Fijians of The Royal Logistics Corp B team battled it out for the plate with the Bulls coming out 31-0 winners.
WMD Bristol the university side saw off reigning champions GWR 31-14 in the semi-final to book their clash against the Slashers, who accounted for The Royal Logistics Corp A side 40-0.
The final was an excellent game, the students edged out by two converted tries.
