I WELL appreciate the anger that is felt by your correspondent about Salt Way School.
But had she had spoken to me first, as many parents and some governors have done both on the doorsteps and by telephone, she would know that I too am deeply concerned about the way in which the school is being dealt with.
The idea that it should be closed so quickly, and in the middle of a school year, fills me with horror.
Salt Way has excellent facilities, which must not be lost in a deeply unwelcome re-development of the site.
Parents and pupils should be entitled to information and choice as to alternative schools nearby, and that must not mean schools on the other side of West Swindon.
The problem with surplus places in West Swindon must have been growing for years.
If so, why on earth wasn't it addressed earlier by the Local Education Authority?
If any concerned parent wants to talk to me about what we can do to protect children at the school, they only have to get in touch.
