GAZETTE & HERALD: One of England's smallest churches will be open this summer. The historic pilgrim's chapel at Chapel Plaister, near Box, will open its doors to visitors every Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm from May 4 to September 28.
This architectural gem, which recently underwent a major refurbishment, is thought to be one of the wayside refuges that gave shelter to pilgrims on their way to the shrine of Joseph of Arimethea at Glastonbury.
The chapel is actually a small church lying within Box parish and it is regularly used for Sunday and mid week services, though it is normally closed for the rest of the week.
However because of the level of interest it has been decided by the Box Parochial Church Council to open it on Wednesday afternoons.
The chapel is situated on the B3109 Bradford to Corsham road, half a mile north of Fiveways.
Off-road parking is available for motorists and no prior arrangements are necessary.
