LORD Lansdowne's plans for a prestigious 120-room hotel at Bowood have been resubmitted this week, after building work failed to start within the permitted timescale.
Despite fierce opposition, permission for the luxury hotel and conference centre on the historic Bowood Estate was granted in 2001.
Lord Lansdowne, whose family has owned Bowood for 250 years, said it was part of his plan to develop the estate as one of Britain's top golfing venues.
But no building work has begun and the unchanged proposals will have to go back to the council. A spokesman for Bowood said they had been trying to negotiate a deal with a hotel operator for the past few years, and needed to keep the planning up to date.
