15894/02German students and teachers have been enjoying the hospitality of Malmesbury people during a twinning visit to the town.
Ten students, aged between 13 and 14, and two staff from a secondary school in Niebull spent over a week staying with the families of students at Malmesbury School.
It was the fourth time there has been an exchange visit for students of both towns.
During their stay, the German guests visited attractions such as the Roman Spa in Bath, the Clifton Suspension Bridge, and the beautiful Spring flowers at Abbey House Gardens in Malmesbury.
Linda Davies, who is joint chairman of the Malmesbury Twinning Association, also opened her house in Corston to the visitors.
Malmesbury School teacher Steve Parsons said the visit was a huge success and that all those involved had had a good time.
Mr Parsons, who teaches languages, said: "Our German guests really enjoyed themselves over here.
"Naturally there is a linguistic benefit with the exchange but we also find that when Malmesbury children stay with German families they develop more confidence, so it is good for them in terms of personal development.
"The students from Niebull also attended some of our lessons although I think staying until 3.30pm was a shock for them because their school day starts earlier in the morning.
Mr Parsons added that the twinning visit to Malmesbury School was organised by German teacher Colin Muller.
He said students in the sixth form at the school were exploring the possibility of arranging work experience with pupils from Gien in France, Malmesbury's other twin town.
