15960/3POLICE in Wootton Bassett have thanked residents for information that led to two drug raids.
Two simultaneous raids were carried out by officers at 7.30am last Wednesday at addresses on Noremarsh Road and Sorrell Close after residents informed police about possible drug use.
Two teams of six police officers with sniffer dogs searched the two houses. Two arrests were made.
Sgt Andy Fortune said: "We would not have been able to carry out these warrants if it had not been for the information provided by members of the community.
"Information has been coming in regarding both these premises for some time. We needed to apply to the magistrates for warrants and present to them significant information. It's something we've been working on for about three months."
Sgt Fortune said: "There was a significant quantity of cannabis found in both premises.
"We know it's not just Class C and we know that there's Class A drugs in town as well. "
A 17-year-old man from Sorrell Close, who cannot be named, appeared at North Wiltshire Youth Court in Chippenham yesterday charged with possession and intent to supply others with Class C drugs. A 25-year-old man from Sorrell Close, who is also charged with possession of Class C drugs, is due to appear before the same court on May 5.
