THE John Woods charity football match to raise cash for Dorothy House Hospice is now to be played at Corsham Town' s ground on Sunday, July 17.
Corsham player and assistant manager Woods, who is suffering from cancer, has inspired the game with his bravery as he battles the disease.
The Gazette is backing the match and will provide a trophy and publicity for the game.
It is hoped hundreds of people will turn out to watch a Corsham Town XI managed by Colin Bush and a Chippenham Town FA Vase finalists XI managed by Tommy Saunders.
Corsham boss Bush said: "We are still finalising the details but the match will kick-off at either 2.30pm or 3pm and we hope lots of people will come along.
"John Woods was part of the Chippenham team that played at Wembley and he always says it was one of the best days of his life.
"Everyone here wants to do everything they can to raise money for Dorothy House Hospice at Winsley.
"It is a charity that we have been supporting for some time. The hospice does a wonderful job and helps many people from across the county."
He said people would be charged entrance for the match and all the proceeds would go to the hospice.
Woods has been battling cancer for several months and has undergone intensive chemotherapy at Bath Clinic.
But inbetween his treatment sessions he has made a huge effort to still go to Corsham matches at home and away and has drawn tremendous strength from the support shown to him by everyone connected with the club.
Bush added: "The team has had a great season and I hope that gives John a boost."
