GREEN Baize completed the first leg of a potentially stunning treble with a resounding victory in the Wiltshire Sunday Cup.
Tony Bedwell's side triumphed 4-0 against Sailsbury outfit Royal Oak in an eventful final at Wootton Bassett's Rylands Way.
The Swindon Sunday League's domination of the competition continued with a seventh successive win for one of its member clubs, following the success of Greyhound, Juventus and County Ground in recent times.
The Baize were always in control once Shaun Carter had headed them into a first-half lead.
TJ Bohane and an own goal stretched their advantage and Mark Harper rounded off a comprehensive victory. The game turned sour in the second half, with a mass brawl breaking out and both sides having a man sent off substitute Phil Coulson was shown a straight red for Green Baize.
Bedwell and co can expect a tougher time when they bid to add two more trophies to the collection in the next fortnight.
An intriguing clash with stablemates Green Baize United awaits next Sunday in the final of the Sunday League Knockout Cup.
A week later they face old rivals the County Ground in a straight showdown for the Division Two crown.
After picking up the first piece of silverware, delighted manager Bedwell said: "That's one down, two to go."
County Ground, the joint leaders of Division Two, lifted the Chairman's Trophy with a 3-1 victory against AFC Gas from Division 1 after extra time. In a mainly dour affair Gas took the lead in the second half through Danny Sealey before the County Ground hit back through Gareth Davies to take the match into extra time. During that period Micky Solan and Phil Corcoran scored for County Ground to pick up the trophy.
In Division One, Greyhound won their 13th Division One title in a row, and 18th league title in total, after defeating Tran Staff 4-2 with goals from Tony Joyce, Kenny Hawkins, Shaun Terry and Paul Cooper. The Tran Staff replies came from Ben Kimber and Richard Purcell.
In Division Three, Fox & Hounds, who have not played a game since February 20, finished off their league campaign with a 6-1 win at Nationwide. Rob Cunningham with a hat-trick, Neil Lee with a double and James Williams were on target as was Phil O'Farrell for Nationwide.
In Division Five, Duckhams Chiseldon followed up their 3-0 win at Halcrow with a 6-3 triumph at FC Lava Lounge. There were doubles for Jon Cave-Ayland and James Bradfield and one each for Ian Worthington and Terry Adams.
This means that victory on Tuesday night against rivals Castrol Chiseldon will give them the title over Intel.
In Division Six, Arval Cricklade are finishing the season powerfully and recorded another victory, this time 3-0 at Intermach, through goals from Dave Kearley, Tom Fullalove and keeper Dean Miles from 30 yards.
In Division Eight, champions Green Baize Utd warmed up for next week's cup final by demolishing West Swindon Sunday 7-0.
