DEVIZES' newest gym is set to open this weekend despite a burglary just before the alarm system was installed.
The burglars caused about £1,000 damage when they smashed the front doors of the Route 2 Fitness gym overnight between April 19 and 20.
They entered the building, at the Devizes Trade Centre on the Hopton Park Industrial Estate, but did not steal anything nor damage the televisions and stereo systems inside.
Owner Jayne Hadden said: "The break in happened on the one day we were vulnerable. The alarm system wasn't quite ready but it is now working.
She said that the gym will open as planned on Saturday and members of the public will be able to have a look around from 10am to 4pm over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The gym will be open seven days a week and employ five people plus freelance aerobic instructors.
Police are looking to see if the burglary at the gym is linked to other break ins on the Hopton Industrial Estate.
Any information should be given to PC Adam Hall at Devizes police on (01380) 722141.
