THE future of a piece of green belt land hangs in the balance after one planning application was turned down and another taken to appeal.
People living near a proposed multi-million pound business park on land off Bradford Road, Trowbridge, fear if it goes ahead it will make flooding problems in the area worse.
West Wiltshire District Council's planning committee turned down a second application, by Cabot Trustees Ltd, on Thursday but an identical application by the same developer has this week been the focus of a planning inquiry.
The second application was submitted by the developers at the request of the council after changes in planning guidance At the District Plan inquiry an independent planning inspector decided the land is suitable for employment use.
If given the go-ahead the developer would build 10,000 sq m of office and storage space.
