Picture Ref: 77241-60SCORES of Purton villagers strained and gasped at a tug of war contest.
Hundreds flocked to the Red House playing fields to watch the action in aid of the village surgery.
And it was not just men who took part.
"I was very surprised, but we had three women's teams enter," said organiser Keith Taylor.
"They did very well. You could see the strain on their faces."
Eight men's teams and 10 kids' teams also took part yesterday.
Organisers hope the fun day will raise £1,000 for new equipment at the surgery.
