WHEN parents separate, it can be a devastating experience for children involved.
But help is at hand from a new counselling service.
Confidential sessions are being run at Swindon's Clivey Project for youngsters between five and 18.
Up to six free sessions are available at the youth project in Clive Parade, Pinehurst.
Parents are not contacted by the service.
Studies have found that divorce can send some children into mild depression.
Children of parents who divorce are also more likely to engage in anti-social behaviour.
And the effects can extend into adulthood.
Adults whose parents separated are also more likely to have unsuccessful marriages themselves.
The sessions are run on Tuesday mornings by staff from Swindon Family Mediation Service.
