I READ with interest the letter by Des Morgan on April 22, and I couldn't agree more.

As someone who is required to drive to different locations on a daily basis as part of my job, often on the motorway, I would like to see the police put more effort into cracking down on dangerous driving practices and what seems to be an ignorant disregard for other road users.

These practices include HGVs suddenly changing lanes without prior warning and cars doing the same at much greater speed.

It could be argued the Highway Code is not helpful as it permits motorway drivers to change lanes without requiring the use of indicators, and I am sure many drivers interpret the same rule to apply to the former case.

Another thoughtless action is the practice of not indicating on roundabouts and at junctions.

Rather than concentrating on speed cameras on the M4 which many consider to be a "cash cow," may I suggest the police pay attention to these bad practices which are probably the chief causes of death and serious injury.
