CHIPPENHAM NEWS: SIX Chippenham pupils have won the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Award for their commitment to a meningitis charity.
The youngsters from Hardenhuish School, were presented with a certificate and pin by teachers on Friday.
Students Helen Finnamore, Daisy Newsome, Jessica Sadler, Elizabeth Jones, Wendy Graham and Eleanor Gillian won the award for three years of hard work with the Meningitis Foundation.
A spokesman for the awards said: "The scheme recognises the contribution individuals or small groups make to their school, family or community.
"In selecting award winners, it rewards those who are often unsung heroes."
The Diana award was set up in 1999 by the Government to reward committed youngsters aged between 12 and 18.
Assistant headteacher Wayne Howells said: "We at Hardenhuish School are very proud of Helen, Daisy, Jessica, Elizabeth, Wendy and Eleanor.
"They have been chosen for this award because of their inspirational qualities that are demonstrated through their commitment to work for the Meningitis Research Foundation over the last three years."
More than 7,000 deserving teenagers have won the special award.
