POLICE believe youths could be responsible for setting a Ford Cortina on fire causing £1,000 damage.
Police believe youths could be responsible for the arson attack at a garage in Riverside Drive, Melksham, on Tuesday evening between 7pm and 7.30pm.
Pc Pete Aston, of Melksham police, said: "The offenders have entered the garage and deliberately set fire to the inside of the car."
The owner of the retro Mark 1 Ford Cortina, a collector's item, has not been traced so far by police.
Pc Aston believes the garage may be owned by West Wilts Housing Association and is in a set of four at the end of a row of houses.
Sergeant Martin Schorah of Melksham police said: "It could be that local youths were involved because there were many of them at the scene when police and fire attended and it could be that word has spread as to who may have committed this offence."
Pc Aston is interested in hearing from anyone who was at the scene between 7pm and 7.40pm.
