IN the light of worries about the security of the postal voting system spot checks were carried out on Tuesday to ensure voters had received their papers.
West Wiltshire District Council electoral services officers, accompanied by the police, called at homes in Trowbridge, Bradford on Avon and Hilperton to check everything was above board.
District council chief executive Andrew Pate said: "We have been doing various checks to make sure everything looks as it should do."
The aim of the exercise was also to reassure people steps are being taken to ensure problems that have occurred in other parts of the country do not happen in Wiltshire.
