PEOPLE all around the county will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of VE Day this weekend.
In Warminster on Saturday, the day before the anniversary, Longleat House will host an event led by the country's leading military charity, the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association.
The Warminster division of SSAFA, part of the Wiltshire branch, has organised a range of activities, which are free of charge at Longleat.
The event is designed to increase awareness of SSAFA and raise funds for causes it supports.
It will feature the Clive and Lucknow bands of the Prince of Wales Division as well as a military musical display by the Drums and Pipes of Black Watch, the base regiment at Battlesbury Barracks, Warminster.
There will be demonstrations from the Infantry Recruiting and Display team and static displays by the Army Cadet Force, Wiltshire Fire Service and Wiltshire Police.
SSAFA Warminster division secretary Alan Jones said: " This will be a major event to celebrate one of the great milestones in our history."
In Trowbridge a memorial service will be held at St James's Church at 2pm on Sunday, attended by David Margesson, High Sheriff of Wiltshire, Grace Hill, Trowbridge mayor and other civic dignitaries.
The service will be followed by a parade through the town and the day will be rounded off with a concert by the South Western Concert Band at the Civic Hall from 7.30pm.
In Melksham, the Assembly Hall has a display by the town's historical society depicting Melksham during the war years.
The display is open between 9am and 4pm on weekdays but people are advised to phone 01225 709887 to ensure access.
