MELKSHAM secured Screwfix Premier Division survival on Saturday with a 3-0 win over fellow strugglers Bridport.
Still needing a win to guarantee safety, Gary Higden, Ian Byfield and Adam Gingell struck to stretch Melksham's unbeaten run to four matches.
With safety guaranteed they then slipped to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at relegation-threatened Torrington due to a 78th minute penalty.
Manager Lee Burns said: "Saturday was probably our best performance of the season. Our passing and movement was superb. Everyone really wanted to win because we still needed a point to make sure of safety.
"The Torrington match was a typical end of season match. They were still fighting for points to avoid relegation and the bumpy pitch was a real leveller."
