It's cup final day for Wilts League clubs tomorrow, writes RAY BURROUGHS. The Corsham Print Senior Cup is being fought out between AFC Stratton and Bradford Town while in the Fountain Trophies Junior final Blunsdon United take on County Ground.
Both games are due to be played at Corsham's ground, the senior final kicking off at 2pm followed by the junior final at 5pm.
AFC Stratton boss Tony Dyer will be the first to admit that it has not been the best of seasons for his side but is upbeat about the prospects of bringing some silverware back to the Premier club.
"I think we will start as the underdogs and to be honest we will be without a couple of our regulars, Rick Casey and Nick McNally both on the injured list," said Dyer.
"It will be a big game for our youngsters 17-year-old Scott Scanlon, Tom Restell, Simon Edwards and Rob Gully it will be up to them to do their bit and hopefully we can get a result."
Long-time leaders of the Premier Division Bradford will be a hard side to beat. The club have a formidable striking force in Steve Roddy, Robbie Simmons and Tom Pang and no doubt they will keep the Swindon side on their toes.
Mark Lawrie, manager of Junior Cup holders Blunsdon United, will be looking to get one over on his counterpart County Ground's Paul Harper.
Harper explained: "We used to play together for Croft and we are good friends. However it would be nice to nick the trophy from them and I'm sure we would still be on speaking terms.
"We are going into the final with plenty of confidence having lost just one of our last 25 league games. We are without Paul Loveridge, Simon Sharpe and Mick Harper but apart from that we should have a useful squad."
Blunsdon boss Mark Lawrie said: "We won't be short of support, we have a coach load of supporters going to Corsham and I hope we can give them something to cheer about.
"We will be at full strength, with assistant manager Mark Gunter also in the squad.
"It will be great to retain the cup but it won't be easy, they beat us 3-0 in the Wilts Junior Cup so we will be looking to turn the tables on them."
There are a handful of outstanding games in the league including Cricklade's last game against Marlborough Town.
Another crunch game is in Junior Division Two where Castle Combe need to beat Wroughton Reserves to have a chance of lifting the Junior Division Two title. Corsham beat Melksham 2-0 in midweek to clinch the Premier Division title and Swindon Asians gained a 4-1 success over Blyskawica to finish runners-up in Junior Two.
