HUNDREDS of people visited the exhibition of watercolour painter Steve Hall at the weekend.

Mr Hall, who turned to painting after his youngest daughter Melanie disappeared from a Bath nightclub nine years ago, displayed his watercolours at the Harington Club, Bath on Sunday.

His daughter, who was 25 when she went missing, has never been found.

The 61-year-old, of Bradford Grove, Bradford on Avon, said: "I was very pleased by the response. It was the first time I have had an exhibition in Bath. It was a very nice venue and a couple of hundred people came along."

Mr Hall has also co-written a book, with friend Barry Miles, about watercolour artist Edward Wesson.

Since it was launched in November its initial print run of 1,500 copies has already sold out.

Mr Hall, who stood down as chairman of Bath City Football Club last week, said he has decided to focus on painting full time from now on.

"I don't really want to retire and I decided I could do this into my old age. It's a lovely occupation and you meet really nice people," he said.

Mr Hall has two more books planned and also hopes to publish a volume of his own work one day.

He is also bringing out an educational watercolour-painting video later in the year. He holds residential courses all over the country.
