THE stage is set for budding rock stars to strut their stuff in the final of a music competition.
Twelve singers will compete in the final of Rock Idol at the Chicago Rock Caf in Trowbridge on May 10.
Around 100 performers have entered locally and have been whittled down to a dozen over a month of heats. The regional stages will provide a stepping stone to the national final where the top prize includes £2,000 cash as well as the chance to cut a CD, take a tour of venues and work with professional singing coaches.
Kenneth Myton, manager of Chicago Rock Cafe in Park Road, said: "The Rock Idol heats have taken our breath away. There has been such a high-class throughout our month of heats, meaning we have a great line-up for the local final.
"We are extremely confident that we can produce a talent that can go all the way to the national final and possibly even win Rock Idol for Trowbridge.
"These are among the best amateur singers in the area and it's a chance for people to come along and see the talent in Trowbridge."
