MOTORISTS can expect two months of delays as major road works begin on Monday.
Gas pipeline company Transco will be starting on a £550,000 eight-week project to lay almost 3km of new plastic pipe between Brook Road, Trowbridge, and Southwick Country Park.
Project manager Darryl Goddard said: "We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this essential work may cause.
"Transco is committed to safeguarding the environment and we will do our utmost to minimise disturbance to the flora and fauna in the country park."
Work will begin in Brook Road and involves laying about 550m of pipe under the highway, using traffic lights to control the vehicle flow.
At the same time Transco will be laying pipes across the countryside, finishing in the country park. The entire project is expected to last 20 weeks.
The company is working with West Wiltshire District Council to co-ordinate the work and it is hoped the park's footpaths can remain open throughout.
