Stephanie DavisA BUSINESSWOMAN who successfully battled breast cancer is to take to the catwalk to raise awareness of the disease.

Stephanie Davis, owner of Serenity Beauty Salon, in Castle Street, Trowbridge, has been chosen to appear in the annual Breast Cancer Care fashion show in October.

She said: "I am very excited about it. I am not your typical model but they are not looking for 6ft 5ins size eight super models, just normal women who have got through breast cancer. It shows people you can still be feminine and wear nice clothes even after you have lost a breast."

Mrs Davis, who lives in Paxcroft Way with husband Michael and children Ryan, 16 and nine-year-old Leah, was diagnosed with breast cancer nearly eight years ago, on her daughter's second birthday.

"To be told you have breast cancer and might lose a breast is devastating. It makes you feel you are not quite a woman.

"My daughter was only two. I thought I was going to die but through the help of doctors and nurses I am still here eight years later."

The brave mum underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery and has since been clear of the disease.

She will appear in two shows on October 5, with her family cheering her on in the first show in the afternoon.
