CROWDS basked in the sunshine at a May fair at the weekend. Families turned out to enjoy the entertainment on offer in Trowbridge town centre at the Lions fair on Saturday.
Organiser Richard Lovelock said: "It went very well and everyone enjoyed the sunshine. It was good to have a Lions fair without too much rain."
Entertainment was provided by Maypole dancers from Staverton School as well as the male majorette troupe, the Major Wrecks.
Teenage pop group Right to be Heard provided the musical background for what proved to be a very festive celebration of the Spring.
The Wiltshire Times vintage bus was on hand with a free packet of crisps, courtesy of ASDA, with each paper bought.
Carol Moth from the Wiltshire Times said: "It is good to get the paper involved in local events such as this and many thanks to ASDA for donating the crisps."
The Lions' competition to win a bike, in which participants had to throw six dice in the hope of getting five fours, did not yield a winner but the contest will now roll on to the next fair in the town due to be held in June.
The Lions club books the street space for the event and gives other charities the opportunity to book a space for a stall.
There were 25 charity stalls this year, raising funds as well as awareness of the valuable work they do in the community.
The Lions itself supports many charities in the area and the event raised over £100 for them.
