Mike EvemyNORTH SWINDON: WE are getting stronger is the message from the Liberal Democrats in North Swindon.
Mike Evemy was delighted when this morning's results showed the party had gained an extra 2,000 votes.
And, he is hopeful the Liberal Democrats will have a serious chance of winning in the next election.
This is the second time Coun Evemy has represented North Swindon.
He said: "The campaign has been really good this time round.
"People are giving the party a lot of support and we have got new people joining, invigorating the campaign.
"The public are dissatisfied with the Government not just with the war but with other issues such as council tax rises and tuition fees. I think our campaign has been much more positive than the other parties.
"We just want to go forward and improve the life of people in Swindon."
And, although he picked up third place this morning, he is confident this is the last time the Liberal Democrats will be thought of as the underdogs.
He said: "Next time I think we will be serious contenders for the Government.''
